OWNER'S RESPONSE:
Thanks so much for the positive remarks, Jill! We think we have something very special here and are glad you think so, too! Also, welcome to the wine tasting world- it is a never-ending adventure, revealing to you "secrets of the soil" around the world- have fun with it! We are currently working on increasing our presence in liquor stores, and hopefully someday, grocery stores, in your area. I would suggest you become a fan of ours on Facebook to stay abreast of this information and all other fun that is TBW! Hope to see you again soon!

Hi Sandy
Thank you for commenting on our website!
When we made the change to stelvin closures approx. a year ago, we did it for many reasons.
1. Bagg Dare wines are all young, fresh aromatic wines. As you can see from this article, using a Stelvin is definitely suggested if you want to keep these characteristics in your wines... which we do. (http://www.luxuryweb.com/html/cork_vs__stelvintm.html)
2. We want our wines to be the same, fresh, consistent wines as they are the day we bottle them.
Here's another article arguing the pros/cons of stelvin vs. cork.
http://www.gayot.com/wine/feature/screw-caps-cork.html
3. We wanted to prevent cork taint.
I could really go on forever in this regard, but these are our major reasons. I like popping the cork on a bottle of wine as much as the next girl, but would hate to miss out on some really beautiful wines just because they aren't corked. We still have a long way to go on the stigma surrounding Stelvin Closed wines in the US, but I think if you open up your heart, there is plenty of room for both! You could bring your Stelvin closed bottle to the party and impress your pals with your newly found knowledge in this regard!
P.S. Both Bames and Andrews sell our wines in Oswego!
Thanks Again, Happy Holidays!
90 Seconds of Heaven and 69 Ways are my favs. I live in WNY and have let my local liquor stores know that they should be selling your wines!
The rest of the winery was amazing. I can't wait to bring my husband. He will love the brewery as he is an avid home brewer.
OWNER'S RESPONSE:
Thanks so much for visiting, Amanda - we can't wait to see you and your husband back! Just wanted to let you know about the odor you smelled. It's that time of year and you were smelling what we refer to as the "sweet smell of fermentation!" Being a farm winery, our fermentation is done in our tank room right below the tasting room at Stony. While it can be a bit offensive to some, it is similar to visiting a dairy farm, pleasant to some-par for the course to others :) But know we are busy brewing up next year's wines for your enjoyment!
OWNERS REPLY: Angie- we do not want you driving drunk! We also do not want you on our property if you are drunk! If you arrive, by any means, drunk, we will turn you away- how can you possibly enjoy our fine wines and atmosphere in that condition? Besides, it is against the law to serve you if you are drunk- and we will not jeopardize our license. We have instituted our reservation policy (outlined on this website) due to the huge popularity of our winery, particularly on Saturdays, and our past experiences with group transportation. We want the TBW experience to be pleasant for all and have found our "limo free after 3" to be working well. No amount of money is worth a bad experience for any of our customers. We are so glad you love coming to our winery and hope that this clears things up for you.
